[Alexander has lived a pretty normal life thus far; at least as normal was one could be when you're a child of a deity.
He honestly had no complaints, and his parents raised him to be independent so he didn't need to rely on palace staff to do things. It worked better for him to do so anyway. Anyone that knew him well enough knew that he couldn't stand asking people for help because of his shyness. It was a hard trait to kill, but he's managed to get past it awhile avoiding everyone that wasn't family.
Unfortunately he can't seem to avoid that for too long once he's enrolled into a school outside of the palace tutors.
Awkward, to say the least. He wanted to do nothing more than to hide in a corner somewhere. He hated crowds, and being close to people he didn't know made him uncomfortable.
He's about to slide into a small hallway to avoid the crowd before he spots someone familiar in the crowd.]
What --?
[Of course his family would hide this from him.]
What are you even doing here? You scared me to death.
[ Sometimes your parents raise you to be independent, and other times you're independent because your parents sort of... Forgot you existed, and maybe lost you for a while. It kind of just happens once in a while, and Liuxi was one of the outcomes that turned out for the better. More than just better- there was some real promise.
Of course, having excelled with such talents, now her wild and independent life was a little too much.
Now, after a month of being reminded of just who she was, and was supposed to be, the very people who forgot about her existence were dropping her off at a horrible place that enforced structure with its education. There was probably something more enforceable in her future, but her clothes made for a nice draw of curious people. Curious she can handle, only a little better than she can with people!
It was just an excuse to go to any hall and catch a breather. How was it always like this, at the oddest times. She's had dreams where they found each other in a dark maze before. It feels like that. ]
Alex!
[ She wasn't about to cling, but Liuxi did go close enough to make her token 'miserable' expression that could draw tears out of anyone... Usually herself. They always managed to find each other, especially when not trying. How odd. ]
Did you hear? My training in the mountains apparently isn't good enough for 'someone of my level.' Do they ever say what that level is when confronted? Not at all.
[Curious outfit indeed. She stands out in the crowd and that doesn't sit right with him. It draws in stares from both sides, but he doesn't react directly to the crowd. Instead, he reacts to her and takes a step forward to close the gap in between the two. Protective arms wrapping around her, before he blatantly glares at the others that are staring.
For someone so gentle and soft at his core, he can truly fake being vicious. Enough to where the crowd seems to take it in and avert their gaze as they walk past the two.]
Sorry--?
[He knew that she was away for awhile but her being away for that long and to have it be for naught... Ouch. He can only sympathize, and that means patting her head as a consolation prize. Still awfully terrible at giving any sort of affection that didn't make him feel awkward, but this wasn't so bad. He didn't look nervous.]
What is that even suppose to mean? Whoever said that probably forgot that we are... Not "normal".
[That last bit is said in a careful vibration that Liuxi can detect with her senses.]
... I don't think that being in the cold is good for your body type anyway. I thought you were more warm blooded; we don't need you going into a state of brumation.
[That being said, she's hugged a bit tighter to exchange body heat.]
[ It takes a moment, but Liuxi quickly leans in and reciprocates the hug, fully oblivious to the warnings silently being shot out at others. While the type to accept affections from others quite easily, there was a difference when it was truly valued. Even more so, because Alexander felt he was so bad at it, the efforts meant even more.
He was right, though. They weren't normal- Even for what they were, they couldn't be considered normal, before even going to who they were at the core of it all. In the ways that others felt it mattered. ]
I get on the sluggish side, but I never fully go into brumation...
[ Not that she would turn away some heat sharing. Lingering into the tight hug a bit longer, there's a nod to say she was ready to walk before linking an arm around Alex's arm. ]
It's not that they didn't forget, but instead frustrated because I lack a lot of the foundations that they like to teach based off of. I'm not really mad about it. If things went the way the tutor hoped for, I wouldn't be here already.
[Something about her saying that she gets on the sluggish side only makes him worry more, and it's a bit comedic, really. How tightly Alexander is holding onto Liuxi to give her body some warmth. He knows that she's gone for awhile and being in the harsh cold of the mountains wasn't something to mess with. At least, that's what he thinks.]
Not good enough. Once we're out of this hall, you're coming back into my arms.
[In the mean time, locking arms with him seems to be good enough to make him less fussy about her. He'll just keep close while they walk down the hallway, where he assumes his class will be. Admittedly a bit anxious than he should be, but he doesn't want to show it.]
It just sounds like we need to get you a better tutor then. It just goes to show they didn't teach you well enough, and nothing bad on your end.
[Perhaps fortunately, Alexander's black and white thinking might be beneficial to this conversation.]
I'll look for another one after my classes are finished. I'll find a worthy one that's good enough for my cousin, and then some.
[He may or may not be a bit protective of family.]
In the mean time... Take it easy, okay? I'll train with you until we find someone.

Let's talk about your training while we walk.
